florence park children’s centre

This project at Flo’s Community Centre started when a family centre provided within the existing building was closed following local authority funding cuts. The local community came together to take over and create a new family centre to re-provide facilities including a new nursery, a local café, drop-in centre, maternity midwife facilities and community rooms. This project had an incredibly limited budget, various stakeholders to manage including numerous charities, community groups, the city council and the county council. What started off as the loss of the family centre ended up being a success story and something which brought the community together, providing greater services than it did before, based on local need.
