fritwell primary SCHOOL

The project for Fritwell Primary School was won on interview, and its complexity aroused from the fact that the School had to raise money in order to build it. This was achieved by selling some of the land adjacent to the school for housing, which Jessop & Cook obtained planning permission for.

The project consisted of internal alterations to the existing school building, including a replacement kitchen and a new build to house three new classrooms, a new staff room, a headteacher’s office and a new reception. Externally the project included extensive new landscaping and an external link canopy to connect the new building with the existing school. The new landscaping included new play areas, built-in benching around the trees and a new grasscrete car park.

During construction a detailed system for access was designed and managed for the security and safety of the pupils and staff. The project was a contemporary project built to higher than building regulation standards and it involved experts to design an exceptionally high standard of acoustic engineering to improve the classroom environment.
