Jessop and Cook has has been working with the school for a number of years and has formed a several phase plan of works to improve the school in a co-ordinated way to ensure the growth and flexibility of the school. The design and construction of the Foundation Stage classroom is Phase 2.

The new extension was planned to help raise the atmosphere of the whole school that would give a lift so that all who use it would benefit. The intention of the design was to encourage pupils and teachers alike with a positive teaching space and to provide the school with a focal point for the younger children to be proud of.

The design of the classroom was to give the school an aesthetic lift. It was intended that the shingled facade would provide a tactile and stimulating backdrop to the children’s education, whilst hopefully minimising absent-minded graffiti and damage, a theme sustained by providing a large external chalkboard within the external play area. The large glazed areas at either end of the classroom and high ceiling help create a light, airy and friendly environment to teach in.

The project was designed and constructed within 12 months and was within budget.
