The general aim of the scheme was to provide an economic, environmentally sensitive design that would reduce overall running costs and improve the health and comfort of the occupants.

The building will enable people with both sensory and physical disabilities to move around safely and independently without restrictions.

The proposal outlines a compact footprint, which generally follows the extent of the previous building it is designed to replace.

The chosen scheme creates a new garden and courtyard areas for reflection while the new conference suite is housed in a separate facility for flexibility.

The design is simple and minimal in overall visual impact and yet compact and full of possibilities for allowing the proposed building addition to accommodate the changing needs of current and future users.
