YOUNGS WAY AFFORDABLE HOMES
Jessop and Cook designed these affordable homes at Youngs Way in Littlemore; steering the project through RIBA Stages 1-3 for OXPlace, on behalf of Oxford City Council.
The 10 new council and shared ownership homes are on a former depot site, and were designed sensitively and sustainably to help provide much needed homes in Oxford. They take a ‘fabric first’ approach, with enhanced insulation and air tightness standards to reduce energy use and carbon emissions. Living spaces face southwest to maximise sunlight, and the new homes are heated by air source heat pumps, incorporate rooftop PV, EV Chargers, bat, bug and bee boxes, and were constructed with highly-insulated timber frames.
